Amy’s Brighton Marathon 2026 Fundraiser for PSC🌟
Amy Carroll
My Story
In 2025, I was diagnosed with a life-changing illness called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) – a rare, progressive liver disease that I had never even heard of until that moment…
At just 19, this was something I never imagined hearing. PSC isn’t something people know or are aware about. Now, it’s something I’ll live with forever – involving regular hospital visits, major lifestyle changes, and eventually, a life-saving liver transplant. There’s no cure yet, and that’s something I’m determined to help change.💛
So I’ve set myself a huge challenge! I’m running the Brighton Marathon 2026 🌟🌟 to raise as much money and awareness as I possibly can – not just for me, but for everyone out there living with PSC. I will be running for PSC support UK, the only patient organisation dedicated to helping people affected by this rare liver disease.
This marathon will be a massive challenge, but I want to prove – to myself and others – that no matter what life throws at us, even if we are living with a serious illness, we are so much more than a diagnosis. We are strong, capable, and we can still achieve amazing things🫶🏼
From now until race day, I’ll be going all out with fundraising. Every training run, every early morning, every finish line crossed will be for the people who need hope, answers, and support. I’m doing this to help fund research, raise awareness, support others, and be part of the journey to finding a cure (or at least real treatment) by 2030✨
Any support – whether it’s a donation, a share, or just sending some love – means the absolute world to me. Truly. You’re helping make a difference in my life, a life that is now so unknown, and so many others, and I’m so, so grateful 🩷
So, what actually is PSC?
Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC) is a rare and progressive liver disease, with no known cause, where the bile ducts (tiny tubes that help your liver do its job) become inflamed and scarred. This can cause serious liver damage, lead to liver failure, and in many cases, lead to the need of a liver transplant. It can also raise the risk of bile duct cancer. There’s no cure – only ways to try and manage it – and not nearly enough funding. That’s why awareness and fundraising is so important.
Thank you for taking your time to read my story💕 I hope you donate to this amazing cause or even share my story – every donation and share makes a huge difference!
